Job Purpose:


To provide, monitor and control effective, efficient and safe flight dispatch services throughout Air Arabia network. Obtains over-flying rights and ensures timeliness and reliability of all scheduled/non-scheduled flights in compliance with Company’s standards stipulated in the “Operations Manual” and with DGCA/DAC regulatory requirements applicable to dispatch functions.

Key Result Responsibilities:


1. Ensures regular and “On Time” flight operations as per Air Arabia standards and respective regulations.

2. Partners with Stakeholders to plan and execute flight dispatch: initiation, continuation, diversion, and termination of flights, with focus on safety, punctuality, cost effectiveness in operations as well as accountability for the dispatch reliability on flights and aircrafts.

3. Consults with Operations, Engineering, and Commercial to plan and execute any aircraft’s rotation or changes, publishes and distributes accordingly.

4. During flights disruptions, ensures to arrive at a cost-effective favorable plan both operationally and commercially. In Emergency cases, ensures relevant Emergency Response Plan procedures are being applied and adhered to.

5. Obtains timely, accurate and legal “Over Flying Rights” permissions necessary for scheduled/non-scheduled flights; maintains proper records accordingly. Supervises the liaison with Air Traffic Control [ATC] over the production and filing of flight plans.

6. Coordinates with internal Stakeholders and external parties on technical and regulatory matters related to and affecting Air Arabia flight operations; raises and responds to enquiries; provides guidance and necessary support as required.

7. Monitors the function related communication systems, Aeroline, VHF Radio, Stockholm Radio, LIDO FP, HERMES - ACARS, etc.to ensure proper functioning, accurate timings, no interruptions, and availability for ABY operations. Updates the Journey log entries with discrepancies noted for accuracy.
8. Provides Flight watch on all flights ex base and from stations; coordinates with Ground Operations to publish and disseminate information of different nature to team and other departments, this includes delays/disruptions, accidents, and incidents; in addition, publishes new developments relevant to the daily operations.

9. Utilizes available data and reports received from various sources to conduct necessary analysis and recommend solutions to enhance dispatch reliability and achieve safe and error free flight planning.

10. Manages the skills and performance of the respective team with focus on knowledge- sharing, process improvement, and career enhancement. Motivates, coaches, mentors and monitors the overall performance of the team members to achieve high standards in delivering results. Ensures qualifications and competencies are always reviewed in line with regulatory requirements.

11. Supervises the performance of the flight Dispatchers, and in consultation with Line Manager, identifies improvement areas and deficiencies in order to provide training and development criteria for enhanced productivity of staff.

12. Ensures available resources such as manpower, systems, tools, and procedures are properly managed and utilized to achieve optimal error-free productivity and safe dispatching of flights in line with Company’s objectives: prioritizing work load, rostering and shift patterns, attendance, etc.

13. Keeps self/dispatchers updated with changes to Company’s manuals, Aircraft Manufacturer’s publications, State’s or other regulatory bodies’ publications .

14. Ensures lists of contacts and airport reference details for all stations are regularly updated, validated and communicated to concerned parties for referral.

15. Reviews services provided by external service providers and reports to Line Manager once a month when conditions of service level agreements are not met.

16. Collates the OTP information of the department for the daily, weekly OTP meeting to ensure all delay information are compiled for presentation and discussion.

17. In the event of an aircraft emergency, ensures Dispatch procedures as outlined in the Emergency Response Plan are complied with.

Profile recherché

Qualifications (Academic, training, languages):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science/Math/Aeronautical Engineering/ Industrial Engineering/ Management or equivalent from a recognized university is highly desirable for this role.
  • A higher diploma in a related field (aviation, aeronautical engineering) is acceptable if combined with necessary working experience and a track of record.
  • Possess a valid “Flight Dispatcher Certificate of License” issued form an approved institute or organization preferably GCAA; alternately, successful completion of “Flight Dispatch” initial course or equivalent.
  • Basic Airport, security procedures and regulations training is a must.
  • IATA principles & standards relating to security is an advantage.
  • Proficient in aircrafts operating systems, Microsoft Office (Advanced Excel), Internet, Web Search
  • Very good in written and verbal communication skills, Technical reports writing.
  • Very good in English and French Languages.

Work Experience:

  • 8+ years of comprehensive experience in a comparable airlines company in general with a minimum of 5 years at least in the operations department as an approved or licensed “Flight Dispatcher”; experience with low cost airline is preferred.
  • Comprehensive exposure on Civil Aviation Authorities and regulatory bodies, preferably GCAA; familiar with rules and regulations of CAR, FAR, JAR, and IOSA pertaining to Flight Operations and working procedures.
  • Exposure to QA/Safety/Security/Audit procedures and practices related to and affecting Flight Operations.
  • Capable of implementing policies, procedures and manuals as per approved standards and regulations.
  • Experienced in handling rosters and shift-pattern manpower allocation.
  • Capable to perform in a changing environment with heavy work-load schedules and ad-hoc scenarios.
  • Composed, self-confident and focused, capable of handling emergencies and threats with efficiency.
  • Proven skills in analyzing data, identifying pitfalls and recommending cost-effective solutions.
  • Cost-oriented, possesses effective persuasive, negotiation, problem solving and decision making skills.
  • High accuracy and attention to both results and details.
  • Proven skills in time and change management.
  • Employs technical expertise and interpersonal relations to support company’s objectives.
