Proteomics Technician
One-Year CDD contract renewal one time and transformed into a CDI contract
We seek a candidate who is willing to assist in the day-to-day operation of the proteomics laboratory of African Genome Center (AGC).
The AGC aims to promote research and training in genomics, proteomics and bioinformatics in agriculture, environment, health and food. AGC is equipped with state-of-the-art technology including:
- High-performance mass spectrometer (ex, Orbitrap Fusion Lumos Tribrid) for advanced proteomics and metabolomics.
- Next-generation sequencing technology (ex, Illumina NextSeq 550, MiSeq and iSeq))
- High performance computing (1000-node cluster)
Job/Project description
Tasks
- Assist in day-to-day activities in proteomics labs
- Samples preparation for protein analyses
- Evaluate the data and help researchers with data interpretation
- Support researchers in LC-MS/MS data interpretation using bioinformatics tools
- Support PhD students and postdoctoral researchers in developing lab and data interpretation skills
- Purchase consumables and equipment
- Help trouble-shoot problems and support methods development

Profile recherché
Qualifications for the position
- Degree (minimum Master) related to protein chemistry or biochemistry with a good background in proteomics
- Experience in LC-MS/MS analysis and data interpretation
- Experience in data analysis using bioinformatic tools like Scaffold, MaxQuant, and MASCOT
- Experience working in laboratory
- Research and/or methods development experience
- Supporting PhD students and postdoctoral researchers in lab work
- Well organized to manage a variety of projects
- Aptitude for teamwork, problem solving and collaborative relationships
- Interest in data quality assurance and best laboratory practices
- Knowledge of written and spoken English
