The Research Engineer will play a strategic role within the Energy4Water (E4W) Project at UM6P, contributing to the design, optimization, and implementation of innovative, energy-based technologies for sustainable water harvesting and production. This position is geared toward experienced professionals with deep technical expertise and a strong drive to engineer real-world solutions that address pressing sustainability challenges.

The engineer will lead experimental and modeling activities focused on energy-efficient sorption and condensation systems powered by renewable energy sources, particularly solar. The role also entails prototyping and validating system architectures, developing scale-up models, and ensuring integration with broader clean energy frameworks.

The Research Engineer will collaborate with cross-sectoral stakeholdersacademic partners, industry actors, and public institutionsto translate research into deployable technologies. In line with E4Ws mission, the role contributes to developing applied models that foster sustainable water supply systems and advance the green economy transition.

E4W is committed to advancing the exploration and deployment of green energy and water resources through the development of tangible, scalable models and innovative solutions. By translating research into practical applications, the project seeks to drive impactful contributions to sustainable development and resource resilience.

Key duties:

Develop and optimize prototypes for atmospheric water harvesting that can operate efficiently in different climatic zones and environments.
Mastering advanced materials characterization dedicated to water capture and retention.
Exploring experiments and field testing to validate the efficiency and scalability of developed technologies.
Investigate other possible innovative energy solutions, including solar and thermoelectric technologies, to power water harvesting systems sustainably.
Establish links and research and development in other scopes such as green hydrogen technologies and materials developments.

Profile recherché

Candidate profile:

  • Holds a PhD or Engineering degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant discipline from a recognized institution.
  • Applied research experience, particularly in energy or water-related technologies, is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fluent in English and French, with excellent technical communication abilities.
  • Proven track record of working in multidisciplinary and collaborative environments.
  • Possesses advanced technical and hands-on application skills, with a strong capacity for field implementation.
  • Proven track record of active involvement in concrete, solution-oriented projects.
