Job description:

The African Sustainable Agriculture Research Institute (ASARI) of the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) in Laayoune City is seeking applications for a Research Engineer in the field of Energy Sustainability to be an active member in the construction of its Energy research program. Energy is an important component for ASARI/UM6P Laayoune and the southern region of Morocco.

We are looking for a highly motivated and creative applicant who will participate in the development of research programs and projects and advance education programs in the field of energy sustainaility.

We especially welcome applicants with specific knowledge in the themes particularly identified as priority such as renewable energies, energy storages, green fuel production, hybrid systems and energy management. The selected candidate will work in close collaboration with the poles of water and agriculture at ASARI/UM6P Laayoune and its ecosystem and with several other academic and industrial partners within the framework of the Energy-Water-Food Nexus.

Role of the candidate:

  • Contribute in the Establishement of a sound energy research program and strategies
  • Contribute to the Development of research goals, proposals and projects.
  • Work in collaboration with the Professors and scientist to Identify sources of funding and contribute to the process of securing funds for energy research program.
  • Work on the design, development, characterization, and valorization of local materials for energy applications.
  • Implemente lab-scale systems for energy applications: modelling, design, building, and optimization.
  • Contribute to the parametric analysis and optimization of energy solutions at a relevant scale for an industrial implementation.
  • Contribute to the development of education teaching programs, especially in the field of energy, sustainability for UM6P-Laayoune and its ecosystem.
  • Work with a diverse population of students at the undergraduate and Masters levels and to supervise postdocs and PhD students.
  • Contribute to the Publication of research in high impact factor journals and leading national/international conferences.

Profile recherché

Criteria of the candidate:

  • Engineer Diploma or PhD in Renewable/Sustainable Energy or related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in the subject discipline at a well-known university or industry.
  • A good understanding of renewable energies, energy storages, green fuel production, hybrid systems and energy management.
  • Hands-on experience in designing and conducting experiments.
  • Proven ability to perform multidisciplinary research and contribute to funded research programs.
  • Demonstrated understanding of operational requirements for a successful research project and managing time and resources.
  • Ability to generate new ideas, links, and to build upon existing ideas to generate good concepts and solutions.
  • Proven ability to fulfil the academic writing requirements for development of proposal, reports, and scientific publications.
  • Good English communication skills, both verbal and writing are important.
  • Ability to work both as part of a team and to work independently.
  • Fluency in English, French and/or Arabic will have additional advantage
