About CRSA:
The Center for Remote Sensing Applications (CRSA) is a transversal structure within UM6P that aims to develop methods & tools using multi-source remote sensing data in an approach combining remote sensing, process modeling and field measurements.
The CRSA intends to conduct innovative applied research in the fields of water, agriculture, and soils to solve the problems of monitoring and sustainable management of natural resources, based on scientific collaborations with high-level international universities. It also aims to provide high quality training programs for future African experts in remote sensing.
Job description:
We are looking for a dedicated and dynamic Communication and Extension Agent to join our team focused on the development, testing, and implementation of a groundbreaking decision support platform for sustainable water management in agriculture. This platform aims to provide farmers with climate-adaptive practices, insights, and actions for optimizing agricultural practices, with a strong focus on improving water use efficiency and crop production. The Communication and Extension Agent will play a vital role in bridging the gap between the project and its target audience, ensuring effective communication, knowledge dissemination, and user adoption.
The work to be performed will include:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive communication and outreach strategy to engage with farmers, agricultural communities, and stakeholders.
- Create and distribute educational materials, such as guides, videos, and webinars, to convey the benefits and functionality of the decision support platform.
- Writing appropriate communication supports (website, social networks, newsletters, etc.).
- Collaborate with project teams and domain experts to translate technical information into user-friendly content.
- Organize and conduct training sessions, workshops, and demonstrations for farmers to promote platform adoption.
- Establish and maintain relationships with local agricultural organizations, government agencies, and other relevant partners.
- Collect feedback and insights from farmers and users to inform platform improvements and refinements.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communication and extension efforts, adjusting strategies as needed.
- Represent the project at relevant industry events, conferences, and meetings.

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic candidate, who should have:
- An engineering or master’s degree in Agriculture, Communications, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in communication, outreach, or extension roles in the agriculture or environmental sectors.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in creating educational materials, including multimedia content, for knowledge dissemination.
- Experience in organizing and conducting training sessions and workshops.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- A passion for sustainability, water management, and agricultural innovation, aligning with the project's mission.
- Knowledge of local agriculture practices and the challenges faced by farmers in the region is a significant advantage.
