  • Laboratory Technician for IWRI (water, wastewater, chemicals, and materials analyses)

Job Description:

The to-be recruited lab technician will carry out analyses for water (seawater, groundwater, surface water, runoffs, etc.), wastewater (various municipal and industrial effluents), and related materials and chemicals, for the benefit of IWRI’s research and educational staff, while ensuring the proper functioning and availability of equipment and supplies in the Institute’s research labs.

Key duties:

  • Handling of instruments and laboratory equipment, with their operation, maintenance, and regular calibration for quality controls
  • Assisting with the installation of new equipment and control of their proper functioning
  • Participating in laboratory tasks: preparation of chemicals, reagents, standard solutions, carrying out analyses, etc.,
  • Storage and disposal of chemicals and materials following the HSE standards.
  • Recording of data and results linked to the analysis or test/control and writing of the analysis report.
  • Helping IWRI’s lab manager with the tracking of chemicals, consumables, and gas provisions, managing waste disposal, and the collaboration with UM6P’s Core Lab.
  • Helping researchers with all the tasks they are carrying out in the lab.
  • Supporting IWRI’s teaching team in the Lab, and accompanying interns, students, and other laboratory users throughout their work.
  • Constantly monitoring the general organization, safety and order within the lab, and apply related UM6P’s HSE rules.
