About the Applied Chemistry & Engineering Research Centre of Excellence (ACER CoE):

The Centre was established to address enduring process challenges in Chemistry and Engineering disciplines and create an environment for interdisciplinary research. The research program of ACER CoE is multidisciplinary, with faculty members from backgrounds in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, and Environmental Engineering focusing on different research fields such as catalysis, separation, energy generation, conversion and storage, and organic optoelectronics intelligent and advanced polymers and materials.

  1. Mission

A Scientist position is available in organic-inorganic hybrid solar cells to boost the research and development of PV solar cells for building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV), AgriPV, floating PV or hydrogen generation applications. The post’s scope is to test novel photoactive materials for a new concept to improve the efficiency and stability of cheap solar panels for different applications. In addition, the candidate will test different synthesized and commercially available materials for processing organic-inorganic hybrid solar cells.

The main scope of this position is as follows:

  • Developing advanced solar cell devices for future applications;
  • Elaborating photovoltaic organic-inorganic hybrid materials;
  • Testing novel materials for organic-inorganic PV technologies;
  • Fabricating of organic-inorganic hybrid solar cells.

2. Principal Activities

  • Processing organic-inorganic PV solar cells;
  • Testing photovoltaic effect, photoluminescence and photophysics;
  • Developing characterisation and analysis reports;
  • Drafting patents and articles.

Desired recruitment date: May 2nd 2023.

Main skills

  • Extensive experience in PV solar cell processing and testing;
  • Knowledgeable in chemical and photophysical characterization;
  • Operating and following up on different types of lab equipment;
  • Experience in solar energy or chemical energy desired;
  • Highly fluent in English;
  • Ability to work in a team.

???Diploma required

PhD or equivalent in Material Sciences, Physics, or Chemistry with a minimum of two years of postdoctoral research experience in the fabrication and processing of solar cells.
