The Research Infrastructure Management Office is hiring for the Biosciences CoreLab a senior scientist.
The UM6P CoreLab is a research and service-providing platform managed in a centralized and simplified manner to facilitate access to a wide range of technologies, expertise, and services offered to UM6P researchers and external clients.
The Biosciences CoreLab is part of a set of laboratories intended to support technical and scientific approaches in the fields of research and service providing.
The Core Lab senior scientist will be responsible for:
- Developing procedures for best laboratory practices,
- Ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety procedures within the laboratory
- Establishing SOPs and quality control documents for proper management of lab processes
- Qualifying the lab for the implementation of the applicable quality systems
- Developing multidisciplinary cooperations combining expertise in the biological sciences fields,
- Studying and reducing to a maximum the cost of services,
- Providing advice and making high-level recommendations by sharing acquired expertise,
- Anticipating and critically assessing scientific or regulatory advances and reacting with new strategies,
- Implementing new technologies and products as offered services,
- Ensuring consultations and provision of services within the framework of research projects,
- Maintaining competitiveness in terms of data quality, service costs, and access to advanced technologies.
- Supporting research, rationalizing the purchase of capital goods, and maximizing the efficiency of equipment use.
- Being attentive to proposals and feedback from researchers to offer comprehensive services and training to students, researchers, and external collaborators of UM6P.
- Providing workshops and training adapted to the needs of the scientific community and external customers of UM6P.
Profile recherché
Candidate qualifications:
- PhD in Molecular Biology or related fields.
- At least 5 years experience in a similar position.
- Background in next-generation sequencing (NGS) on ThermoFisher and Illumina instruments.
- A good understanding of nucleic acid extractions, real-time PCR, and library preparations.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, manage, and maintain lab equipment and NGS instruments.
- Aptitude for teamwork, problem-solving, and collaborative work.
- Excellent French and English proficiency.
- Good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Positive attitude and good communication skills.
- Proactivity and capacity to work under pressure.
