CESFRA is seeking for a dedicated soil digital processing researcher who will contribute to the over all activities of the Center by being attached to the Soil Informatics Laboratory.
Responsibilities of the Position
The successful incumbent will be hired permanently; and will have the following duties and responsibilities:
- Work with the team to plan and perform field survey.
- Work with the team to create database on climate, rocks, soils, crops, etc.
- Aggregate and align many layers, including remote sensing, legacy soil maps, and population density maps.
- Conduct review search/desktop research on wide-ranging soils issues using books, journal articles, questionnaires, etc.
- Generate digital soil maps using adequate model, legacy data and croplands.
- Build machine models of croplands, soils and building footprints by applying deep learning.
- Equip the soil informatics laboratory with the necessary resources for better services.
- Assist in annual budget preparation and time schedules.
- Collaborate with research teams, industry stakeholders and others.
- Use research results to write reports, papers and reviews and present findings in conferences. And
- Follow a strict code of ethics in the workplace
Profile recherché
Qualified applicants should have the following skills:
- Master's degree in soil science or soil information systems or related field,
- Proven experience in soil survey and soil digital mapping.
- Good skills in GIS and RS.
- Good skills in machine learning
- Good experience in statistical analysis
- Practical experience in database management And
- Good communication skills.
